BIDARKA

During a long winter on a small Pacific Northwest island, I hunkered down and built a skin boat with my boatbuilder friend, Skip Snaith. Built of driftwood, apple wood, cedar, oak and bent willow.  Pegged and lashed together with sinew; no nails or glue.

Finished in leftover supercub wing fabric,  painted in my non-traditional and whimsical paintings, then sealed and waterproofed.  Finished weight: 27 pounds.

Paddles beautifully!
